Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher

Three minutes is more than enough for turning a small flame into a big fire with the typical Class K fire. Class K fires involves cooking oil, fats, butter, lard etc. It usually starts from kitchens and cannot be extinguished using simple water. This is because oil is lighter and it forms a layer above water and keep burning.

Simple water will rather cause the oil to flow over it and this will transport fire to larger areas. Similarly extinguishers such as CO2, foam and powder will not be able to put out the big fire rather the pressure will cause the oil to spread out and cause more damage. For this purpose wet chemical fire extinguishers are used.

How Does Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher Work?

Wet chemical fire extinguisher is a special kind of chemical based fire extinguisher that react with burning hot fuel (cooking oil, butter, wax etc.) and turn that fuel into soap which is almost impossible to burn. The mist of spray works as a coolant and brings the temperature of the burning area down to stop the fire from spreading further. They are highly efficient in their performance and can put off fire within a quick period of time by spraying over a small flame.

Advantages of Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher

It produces a gentle but very effective spray which prevents splashing of hot oil on user and surroundings. The added benefit of this spray is that it works on Class A fire as well, which includes fabric, paper and wood fire. The extinguisher itself, is rated to be able to fight fires up to 21A 113B 75F.

Area of Application for Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher

The ideal application is inside the kitchens of restaurants, homes and offices where there is possibility of fire on cooking oils and fats with high temperature of 360 °C. The food processing plants implying deep frying processes must have wet chemical fire extinguishers to prevent any kind of loss.

We offer 6 liter capacity wet chemical fire extinguisher. It has the capability to put off the fire caused by deep fat fryers of up to 75 liters. The chemical inside the extinguisher cools down and emulsify the oil which creates a blanket over the oil and seal it from further ignition.

How to Use Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher

Turn of the source of ignition like stove or heater etc.
